Investigators have started analysing the cockpit voice recorder.

The second flight data recorder of the crashed EgyptAir plane has been found and recovered from the Mediterranean, according to the Egyptian investigation team.

The Egyptian investigation committee said the vessel searching for the wreckage pulled the recorder from the Mediterranean a day after recovering the cockpit voice recorder. Both were tucked into the plane’s tail.

The EgyptAir Airbus A320 was flying to Cairo from Paris when it crashed on May 19 between the Greek island of Crete and the Egyptian coast, killing all 66 people on board.

Investigators have started analysing the cockpit voice recorder.

An official said on Friday that the first so-called “black box” arrived in Cairo from the crash site overnight.

Officials said the recorder – one of two on board the plane – has been damaged but that the vessel searching for the wreckage managed to safely recover the memory unit.
