A woman who was found lying seriously injured on a city street has been identified following an appeal by police.
A passer-by found the woman on the pavement in Laverockbank Road in Edinburgh at around 5.30pm on Sunday.
Emergency services were called and she was taken to hospital, where her condition is described as serious.
Police said the woman has now been identified, and investigations are continuing to establish how she came to be injured.
A police spokesman said: “Officers would like to thank everyone who got in touch as a result of our appeal to find out her identity.
“Inquiries are continuing to find out what happened and anyone with information can contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 3537 of Sunday September 27, or make a call anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
