June Field will be on the lookout for any overzealous fans during her first UK tour after one caused her an agonising injury.

The resident Sunday Post psychic begins her most extensive series of shows this month, as her profile continues to rise thanks to her incredibly accurate readings and popular weekly column in these pages.

But she came to realise that fame can be painful after meeting a fan in Edinburgh last weekend.

June, from Dundee, said: “I was in the capital giving private readings for some clients. While I was waiting at the hotel reception this woman came running towards me, shouting ‘June, June, I can’t believe it’s you’.

“It turned out she was a Ukrainian lady who had flown over from Galway, where she lives now, to have a private reading with me the following day.

“She had booked into the same hotel and was so excited to see me there in the flesh, because previously she’d only watched me on Ukrainian TV when I won the International Battle of the Psychics.

“She picked me up off my feet, grabbing me hard and giving me a hug. I felt something go and knew straight away I’d hurt myself.

“I didn’t get any sleep that night because of the discomfort and when I saw her again the next day to give her a reading, I was filled up on Nurofen and thinking ‘please don’t hug me again’!”

June, 53, has a history of back pain and called her specialist to ask his advice.

“He told me to drop in on the way home so he could take a look. I couldn’t believe it when he told me my hip had popped out! He thinks I must have twisted my body at the same time as she was lifting me up.

“The pain was even worse when he popped it back in and I’m quite badly bruised now.

“The woman didn’t mean to harm me Ukrainian people are just more hands-on than us. I found that out when I was staying in Kiev for six months for the TV show. People weren’t slow in coming forward when they began recognising me.”

June begins her biggest schedule of dates yet on February 21 in Bathgate, at The Regal Theatre, and visits as far south as Paignton in Devon and all the way up to Nairn and Fraserburgh, with stop-offs in Glasgow and Motherwell, over the coming months.

She added: “This is my first UK tour and I’m really looking forward to it.”
