Police have thanked “brave” members of the public who tried to save a person who died following a blaze.
Fire crews were called to a property in Burns Lane in Lerwick, Shetland, just after midnight on Sunday.
Police said that one person died and their identity has yet to be confirmed.
They thanked those who tried to help at the scene.
Chief Inspector Lindsay Tulloch said: “I know that some members of the public tried their best at the scene to save the person involved and I would like to thank you for your brave efforts.
“Enquiries are ongoing in conjunction with the Scottish Fire & Rescue Service into the cause.
“Our thoughts are with all those affected by this tragic incident.”
