A 20-year-old man was left with serious injuries after he was attacked outside a pub in Coatbridge.
On Saturday night, at 11.15pm, the man was with a friend outside the bar on Main Street, when a man ran from the opposite side of the street and punched his friend in the face.
As he was bent down helping his friend, another man came across the road and kicked him in the face.
The injured man made his own way to hospital where he was treated for a broken jaw.
Hi friend, also 20, who was punched, was not seriously injured.
Detective David Williamson, Coatbridge CID, said: “As far as we are aware, this was a totally unprovoked attack in which this young man’s jaw was broken.
“He required extensive medical treatment and was only yesterday able to report the assault to police.
“At the moment the attacker is only described as a white man in his early 20s.
“Officers are checking CCTV from the area which shows a large group of people outside the pub and the disturbance spilling on to the street.
“A number of cars and taxis can be seen having to swerve to avoid the disturbance and so I would appeal to the drivers, especially those with dashcams, to get in touch with police if they think they may have information or footage that will help officers with their investigation.”
Anyone with information can contact Coatbridge CID via 101 quoting reference number 3248/25/20. Alternatively, details can be provided anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
