The Queen had an unexpected brush with a Japanese musician when his scarf blew into her path and landed on her shoulder.
Actress Gillian Anderson, who was among the guests in the royal box at the polo on Sunday, could not hide her shock as she saw the end of Yoshiki’s scarf come into contact with the monarch during a gust of wind.
The musician, who is leader of rock group X Japan, also appeared taken aback and was open-mouthed, while the Queen, dressed in bright pink, carried on as usual to make a presentation at the Royal Windsor Cup.
The Queen was seen smiling and chatting to some of the winners and guests at the Guards Polo Club in Windsor Great Park, Surrey.
The royal, who is known for her passion for horses, was pictured sitting at the front of the royal box and watching intently as carriage drivers paraded past.
The event was sponsored by Japanese company Out-Sourcing Inc, and described on the polo club’s website as a blend of “of fast-paced sport, fine dining” and “a sprinkling of Hollywood glamour”.
