Rolls-Royce posts brand sales record

Rolls-Royce has recorded its highest annual sales in its 115-year history.

The British luxury car manufacturer posted sales of 4,107 during 2018 — an increase of 22 per cent rise on the previous year.

Rolls-Royce’s sales have been bolstered thanks to the introduction of an all-new version of its flagship Phantom saloon, along with the release of its first-ever SUV, the Cullinan.

Advance orders for the Cullinan are already running into the second half of 2019.

Torsten Müller-Ötvös, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars chief executive, said: “2018 was a most successful, record-breaking year for Rolls-Royce. We have seen growth in all our regions around the world. At Rolls-Royce we are deeply focused on each and every one of our customers and are delivering on their demanding expectations.

“The Home of Rolls-Royce at Goodwood is acknowledged and celebrated as a global centre of luxury manufacturing excellence, where our skilled, dedicated team create the world’s finest, most sought-after luxury products. We set a formidable mark in 2018: I am confident it will prove the spur to even greater success in 2019.”

Increased demand has meant an increase in workforce too; Rolls-Royce now employs more than 2,000 people – the first time this number has been achieved since the Goodwood plant opened in 2003.

An additional 23 people were entered into the company’s apprenticeship programme too. More than 100 candidates have completed the process since its creation in 2006.
