The BT Sport presenter Jake Humphrey has escaped with minor injuries from a shocking car crash on his way home from an FA Cup match.
The broadcaster posted a tweet showing the aftermath of the collision, which showed the front end of a Mercedes V-Class van transformed into a twisted mess of metal.
Humphrey said he escaped from the collision with ‘only a few bumps and bruises’, as his tweet thanked the emergency services involved. “I just want to call out the Lincolnshire Police, the brilliant local fire service and the lovely family in East Heckington who got the kettle on,” he wrote. “All great, kind folk. Thanks.”
Humphrey also shared a message from the woman who came to help after the crash. Her tweet said: “So glad I met this lovely and amazing man early hours this morning, I hope you are okay this morning!”
A spokesperson for Lincolnshire Police told The Mirror: “At 1:39am on January 16 we received a report that a car had gone into the central reservation on the A17 East Heckington.
“The collision involved a Mercedes-Benz. Two people received minor injuries.”
Humphreys was on his way back from the Blackburn v Newcastle FA Cup match. The presenter is also known for fronting the BBC’s coverage of Formula One for several years, as well as presenting Football Focus and certain events at the Summer Olympics.
