A man has been arrested following the death of a bodybuilder who recently won the Mr Scotland title.

Michael O’Hanlon, 45, was found stabbed at Moorpark Industrial Estate in Stevenston, North Ayrshire, at about midday on Monday.

Emergency services were called to the estate but Mr O’Hanlon, who ran the Musclebox bodybuilding shops, died at the scene.

Police said a 43-year-old man has been arrested in connection with his death.

Mr O’Hanlon, from Irvine, had won the National Amateur Body-Builders’ Association (NABBA) Mr Scotland title in March this year.

According to the NABBA website he won the class two contest and the overall competition in 2016, having first won the title 23 years ago.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “A 43-year old man has been arrested and detained in police custody in connection with the death of Michael O’Hanlon of the Irvine area.

“Relatives are aware and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”
