LADY Colin Campbell has left I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! on “medical grounds”.

The controversial camper was reportedly spotted at the Palazzo Versace hotel on Australia’s Gold Coast on Wednesday morning – the location where evicted contestants stay during the series.

A statement on ITV’s website said: “Lady C has left the jungle on medical grounds.”

The 66-year-old’s exit comes just four days before the show’s final on Sunday.

Lady C had been one of the most talked about contestants on the show, famous for her clashes with fellow campers, particularly Spandau Ballet’s Tony Hadley.

As a result of her departure, Wednesday night’s viewer vote has been cancelled. Viewers who voted by phone will receive a full refund.

ITV has released no further information about Lady C’s condition.

At 66, she was the joint oldest camper in this series alongside Dragons’ Den star Duncan Bannatyne.

Before going into the jungle she was best known for writing a book about Diana, Princess of Wales, which detailed her affair with James Hewitt.

Lady C has previously said she has no phobias, but added: “I don’t think I am that brave.”

Asked what she would miss most during her stint in the camp, she said: “My children, dogs, cats and my life.”I’m A Celebrity star Lady Colin Campbell: Top toff or switch-off? – click here to read moreEvicted camper Chris Eubank told Good Morning Britain: “I’m as shocked andstunned as the rest of you. To me she looked in good health.”

Lady C has been one of the main talking points in the current series, and on one occasion emu poo sparked a row between her and businessman Bannatyne.

“That’s diarrhoea poo, he needs to clean it up,” she said after spotting some near her bed.

“Duncan dodges his duties at every point. He knows there is a poo and has clearly ignored it and is lying down and, unless that poo is cleaned up, I want to leave this camp,” she added.

But the Scottish entrepreneur insisted he was not told about the poo.

“She’s a liar,” he countered. “Maybe an invisible person asked me to clean up invisible poo.”

Lady C is not the first celebrity to leave the jungle on medical grounds or forhealth reasons since the show began more than a decade ago.

Comedian Freddie Starr was forced to drop out in 2011 when he was rushed to hospital after suffering what was thought to be an allergic reaction shortly after eating a foul meal of fermented egg and a camel toe.

Disappointed Starr said he felt “sick” not to complete his stint in the Australian jungle but had to respect the opinions of doctors.

“I wanted to be there until the very end but there’s no use crying over spilt milk,” he said.

In 2012 comedian and entertainer Brian Conley quit after suffering from the effects of malnutrition and exhaustion. His departure came days after viewers saw him break down in tears after a confrontation with fellow contestant David Haye when the boxer sparked a row by flicking two burning logs on to the forest floor.

Last year The Only Way Is Essex star Gemma Collins quit the programme having managed just three days while grumbling about hunger and complaining that she thought she may have malaria.

Viewers watched 18-stone Collins complain about the food portions, saying: “People who murder get treated better than this. Even a murderer gets fed three times a day.”

She misdiagnosed herself as having malaria – which has long been wiped out in Australia, where the show is filmed – as a result of an upset stomach.
