Mousetrap star Henry Luxemburg excited by indy ref vote

The Mousetrap star Henry Luxemburg says he’s looking forward to being in Scotland during the referendum vote.

The former Hollyoaks actor, who played killer Toby Mills in the Channel 4 soap, has been part of the famous Agatha Christie play since last August and has continued with the show as more and more dates were added to what was originally the 60th anniversary celebrations.

“I have no time to get itchy feet,” he said. “There’s something of interest everywhere we go and I’m really interested to see a moment in history when we’re in Glasgow for the referendum.”

As he watches on from close quarters, he’ll be starring in a show that is quintessentially British.

“The Mousetrap is like a home comfort,” he continued.

“It’s a very relaxing environment and is set in a period of time that in all of our memories was romantic, although it wasn’t of course.

“We almost take it for granted that it’ll sell out everywhere we go, but that’s not the norm.

“The show is a London tourist attraction and taking it on tour is like putting Big Ben on the back of a truck and parading it around the country.”

Henry plays Giles Ralston in the murder mystery and is amazed that some people in the audience still don’t know the outcome.

“It’s been around so long that it baffles me that some don’t know how it ends.

“But we do ask the audience to keep the secret and people take that seriously.

“The tour is scheduled to end just before Christmas, but who knows? It might also end up being the country’s longest-running tour!”

The Mousetrap is at Glasgow Theatre Royal from September 15 to 20 and Edinburgh King’s from October 27 to November 1.
