A REMAKE of the classic sitcom Porridge is just around the corner.
The first pictures of the new inmates are here and show comedian and actor Kevin Bishop behind bars.
Kevin will play Nigel ‘Fletch’ Fletcher, who is the grandson of Ronnie Barker’s famous character Norman Stanley Fletcher.
Joining Kevin behind bars will be Catastrophe star Mark Bonnar as Officer Meekie, and The Office actor Ralph Ineson as prison bad boy Richie Weeks.
Written by the original series creators, Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais, the one-off special will air this summer on BBC One as part of a landmark sitcom season.
EastEnders star Dave Hill plays Fletch’s cellmate Joe Lotterby.
The original outing of the show also starred Richard Beckinsale and is considered a British sitcom classic.
The remake is set nearly 40 years after his grandfather served his time, with Fletch imprisoned for a series of cyber-crimes.
