HE’s officially the hunkiest man in Scotland – and he’s absolutely determined to be named the world’s dishiest.

Tristan Harper is competing to become the most desirable man on earth at the Mr World finals later this month.

He won the Mr Scotland title at a glittering final in Glasgow’s exclusive 29 club last month.

The 28-year-old, of St Andrews, is now hoping he can win the world event.

“I love a challenge,” said the bearded professional ice hockey player, who admits he finds the world of male beauty pageants “a bit surreal”.

Tristan – who is 6ft 2in – laughed: “About 50 guys had entered for the contest, which was then whittled down to 12 of us. I came out with the title of Mr World Scotland – which means I’m representing Scotland in a bid to beat guys from all over the globe for the title of Mr World.

“If I win, it will mean I’ll get to do a year’s charity work in areas of the world where I could really make a difference.

“I’ve travelled extensively and witnessed the most appalling poverty. I’d love to feel that I could make a difference.”

Tristan plays ice hockey for Braehead Clan and works as a model in his spare time.

His agent Michael O’Brien, director of Model Team Scotland, planted the seed that saw him crowned Mr Scotland.

“Michael said that modelling agency Catwalk Academy had just launched this year’s search for Mr Scotland and did I fancy having a go?

“I love a challenge, so I sent in my application and photos, and next thing I knew I was through to the final 12.”

The Mr World finals take place on July 19 in Southport, Lancashire.

Tristan will be pitting his talents against 49 other hopeful glamour guys from all over the world.

They’ll be judged on fashion and style, talent, creativity, sport, charisma, determination and discipline.

Tristan said: “Eventually I want to be a professional mountaineer and I’m at my happiest when I’m pushing myself to the limit.”

Luckily for the ladies, he’s still footloose and fancy free.

Tristan laughed: “There’s no one special in my life and I’m not really looking, but if it happened, that would be nice.”
