THE PDSA is searching for 15 overweight pets to take part in its annual six-month exercise and diet programme Pet Fit Club – and they’ve already found found Scottish critters Charlie and Keira.

Pet Fit Club from the PDSA (People’s Dispensary for Sick Animals) sees pets undertake a rigorous diet and exercise regime in an attempt to lower their weight and improve their health.

The initiative can result in some remarkable transformations. Last year’s winner Oscar lost a huge 39% of his bodyweight in just six months – shedding 8.35kg.

Charlie, a cat from Glasgow, weighs a rather plump 10kg. Meanwhile Keira the dog, from Dundee, is a whopping 48kg.

Pet Fit Club is now in its 12th year and if past competitions are anything to go by Charlie and Keira will be dropping the pounds in no time.

Entries for the 2017 short list close on March 5. For more information or some pointers on how to enter your pet, click here to visit the PDSA’s website.
