TV: There’s nothing funny about Chris Pratt in The Terminal List

Chris Pratt in The Terminal List.

Whatever happened to Chris Pratt? He went from loveable Andy in Parks And Recreation, to bona fide A-list movie star as the charismatic Peter Quill in Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy franchise, and was even tipped to take over from Harrison Ford as the next Indiana Jones.

His stock has fallen since then and it’s hard to pinpoint why. He’s a high-profile Christian, but that can’t be it because, after all, we put up with Tom Cruise and his beliefs are based on something the Guardians Of The Galaxy might tackle.

Maybe it’s the truly pants Jurassic World franchise, which mainly consists of Pratt voguing at raptors?

Pratt’s newest outing is The Terminal List, Amazon Prime’s latest military thriller. It’s the type of show with dour men talking in army acronyms, saluting the Stars and Stripes and pointing guns at their problems.

Pratt is capable of charisma but instead he mostly scowls like someone has gobbed in his latte, especially after his elite (they are always elite in these type of shows) military team get their badasses handed to them.

He then picks his way through a glum conspiracy storyline, involving Jeane Tripplehorn (far too good for this) which is treated with the seriousness of All The President’s Men yet somehow has less gravitas than The Hungry Caterpillar.

There’s not even a T-Rex to liven things up.
