IT’S been another good day for Team Scotland at the Commonwealth Games.

The nation’s medal tally now sits at 28, just one short of the best count at an overseas Games.

Swimmer Duncan Scott earned his sixth medal of the Games, claiming silver in the men’s 200m individual medley behind Mitch Larkin.

Scott, who won 100m freestyle gold earlier this week, had the chance for a seventh medal but South Africa beat Scotland to relay bronze.

“Fourth isn’t great,” said the 20-year-old, after combining with Craig McNally, Ross Murdoch and Mark Szaranek.

“I’ve been quite lucky this week, getting my hand on the wall ahead of other people. It was only a matter of time.

“The guys are gutted, but we’ve got to hold our heads high. It was a really good performance and a good end to the week.”

Aberdeen shooter Neil Stirton won his fourth medal of his career with a silver in the 50m rifle prone, while earlier in the day Ian Shaw and Sandy Walker took bronze in the Queen’s Prize fullbore rifle pairs.

Elsewhere, Eilidh Doyle won her 400m hurdle heat in 54.08s to reach Thursday’s final.

Our basketball team beat second-seeds Nigeria to secure a semi-final place against top-ranked Australia.

And the lawn bowls B2/B3 mixed pairs team will compete against Wales for a bronze medal after defeat to the hosts.
