VIDEO: Statues from Aberdeenshire and the Highlands in Oor Wullie’s BIG Bucket Trail auctions raise an amazing £316,700

Jings Crivvens!  The Oor Wullie BIG Bucket Trail statues from Aberdeenshire and the Highlands raised a tremendously braw £316,700 tonight.

The 50 specially created Oor Wullie statues were auctioned off in Inverurie’s Thainstone Centre in aid of The Archie Foundation, the official charity of the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital and the Highland Children’s Unit at Raigmore Hospital.

Tonight’s auction blasted past last night’s total at Dundee Rep, which raised £239,000 for Archie Foundation Tayside.

Tonight’s result takes the total raised so far to £555,700 with hopes for even more successful auction nights in Edinburgh and Glasgow.

The next auction will take place in Edinburgh’s Prestonfield House on Thursday to raise vital funds for Edinburgh’s Children’s Hospital Charity.

The final auction closing the Bucket Trail will take place at Glasgow’s Kelvingrove Art Gallery on Friday and funds raised will go to Glasgow’s Children’s Hospital Charity.

Speaking before announcing tonight’s amazing result, chairman of the Archie Foundation, Joe Mackie said: “A huge thanks from me to all the bidders, both here and online.

“There’s been huge generosity shown.

“I hope Glasgow and Edinburgh’s events are as successful as ours have been tonight and last night.”
