Stats reveal who Motherwell’s bogey team is outwith Rangers and Celtic

NEW research into ‘bogey teams’ has picked out mid-table Motherwell to analyse their stats when up against fellow Scottish Premiership teams.

The data from mybonuscode.co.uk reveals who the Steelmen have traditionally stumbled against on their quest for glory.

The analysis looks at every game ever played by Motherwell in all competitions against the current crop of teams in the top flight of Scottish football.

The findings reveal that statistically Rangers are the bogey team for Motherwell, with the North Lanarkshire side losing 69% of their games against the Gers.

They’re joined by St Johnstone (76%), Kilmarnock (70%), Partick Thistle (70%), Hearts (59%) and Hibs (59%) who have also historically struggled against the Ibrox club.

However, Motherwell also have the 4th best record against Rangers, and the 5th best record against Celtic out of teams currently in the league.

Putting the Old Firm to the side, the team against which Motherwell have statistically dropped the ball the most are Hearts – who the Steelmen have lost nearly half of their clashes against.
