Sky and NOW broadband customers have reported problems logging on to certain websites and VPNs.

The issues, experienced on Friday morning, have seen users unable to access bank and university websites, among others.

And many working from home have been unable to connect to VPNs, which allow remote access to their workplace systems.

Sky, who also own NOW, said they were aware of the issue and were working on a fix.

The Sky Help Team account tweeted: “Sky Broadband customers may be experiencing issues when trying to access some websites this morning. We’re investigating this as a priority and we’re sorry for any inconvenience.”

Royal Bank of Scotland suggested users access their services via mobile data, tweeting: “Unfortunately we are now currently experiencing some issues with Sky Broadband customers accessing our digital banking services at the moment.

St Andrews and Heriot Watt universities were among a number of educational centres to warn students of the ongoing issue.

Sky customers took to Twitter to share their frustrations at being unable to connect.

Martin Radford tweeted: “Please can you urgently update on what is happening with your broadband. I’ve been trying to connect to my work VPN for 2 hours now.”

Alan Leaf said: “VPN is out of action today due to Sky Broadband DNS issues. Unable to Work From Home. Wonder how many UK businesses are suffering as a result?”
