Sir Kenny congratulates Jordan Henderson as the Liverpool captain gets the Premier League trophy

To be standing in the Kop on Wednesday night when the medals and Premier League trophy were handed out was an honour and a pleasure.

I honestly don’t know who came up with the idea for me to be at the heart of the presentation, but I have to say: “Thanks very much”.

Jordan Henderson – a deserving winner of England’s Player of the Year – and the Liverpool players loved every moment of it.

However, I think Jurgen Klopp was probably more excited than anyone else during the whole of the post-match formalities and celebrations!

It was quite a night, and even in those special moments, I couldn’t help but look back over 50 years and be grateful to Celtic for the chance they gave me when I was starting out.

We were all entertained superbly well with some exhilarating football from Liverpool and Chelsea.

It was an absolute cracker and a pleasure to witness.

It was important for Liverpool to win the game to set the rest of the night off in the right manner.

Of course, it wasn’t the same without the fans being inside Anfield.

However, the club, Sky Sports and the Premier League should all be congratulated for putting on such a wonderful post-match production – and celebration.

It was first-class.
