Rangers rumours: Deal close for £3.5m Connor Goldson, Gareth McAuley linked with Ibrox move, Graeme Murty returns

A DEAL is close to being struck to bring Conor Goldson to Rangers.

The Scottish Sun reveals that the Ibrox club have agreed a fee of around £3.5 million to land the 25-year-old Brighton defender.

Goldson was a regular for the Seagulls in the Championship, but heart surgery put his career on hold and he has struggled to regain a place in the team in the Premier League.

Liverpool youngster Ovie Ejaria is also expected to arrive on a loan deal which could be announced later today.

The Daily Record, meanwhile, links Gareth McAuley with a switch to Ibrox.

The Northern Ireland international, 38, is a free agent having left relegated West Brom at the end of the season.

A one-year deal for the veteran is being mooted.

Finally, Graeme Murty is set to return to his academy role at the club.

The Daily Record reports that Steven Gerrard is happy for the former interim first team manager to manage the club’s development squad.

Murty was relieved of his duties after a 5-0 Old Firm defeat last season.
