RANGERS fans have launched a bid to get the classic Dave Clark Five song Glad All Over to Christmas number one.

The Ibrox faithful have adopted the song as the inspiration for a chant about striker Joe Garner, who has become a fan favourite with his tenacious displays in recent weeks.

The song was heard from the away end at New Douglas Park on Friday night as Rangers beat Hamilton 2-1, with the chorus changed from “I’m feeling… glad all over” to “We’ve got…. Joey Garner.”

Originally recorded in 1963, the song was one of The Dave Clark Five’s biggest UK hits.

The song has also been used in various forms by other clubs across the UK and is also used by Crystal Palace on matchdays.

Fans of the London club have joined in the viral campaign too and the song topped the iTunes chart on Tuesday afternoon ahead of the likes of Little Mix, Clean Bandit and Zara Larsson.

It seems that Garner himself is a fan of the song, with fellow Rangers star Harry Forrester tweeting from the team’s Christmas night out: “Sitting next to Joe Garner, keeps telling me that he has a song, bless him… he’s trying to get everyone to sing his song, can’t believe it.”

Bookmakers Coral are currently offering odds of 10/1 of the song being Christmas number one.

The final chart position before Christmas will be announced on Friday.
