The saying may be “we eat first with our eyes” but the growing proliferation and popularity of foodie podcasts has meant our ears are whetting the appetite now, too.

Take, for example, Nick Grimshaw and Angela Hartnett’s show, Dish, which has just returned for its third series, having soared to the top of the charts when it was first released in 2022.

Each episode of the culinary chat show sees the radio broadcaster and Michelin-star chef respectively invite a different celebrity to join them for dinner, with a side dish of lively discussion helping to create mouthwatering audio.

With previous guests including the likes of Stanley Tucci, Dame Mary Berry, Dermot O’Leary and Yotam Ottolenghi, it’s no wonder video clips for the show have been watched more than 46 million times – and with a stellar line-up, the new series looks set to be just as tasty. The first episode, released last week, features comedian Rob Delaney (co-writer of hit Channel 4 series Catastrophe), who talks about working with Tom Cruise, raising children, his recently published memoir, A Heart That Works, Twitter arguments, a passion for peanut butter, and why cooking in the Delaney household is a solo affair.

Filled with laughter, heart-warming moments and, of course, a good dollop of foodie advice from Hartnett, the episode is the perfect entree for new listeners.

What’s more, upcoming episodes, released weekly, will see a place set at the table for Dame Prue Leith, Charlotte Church, Alex Jones and Aisling Bea, to name just a few.

Recipes for each dish cooked on the show are available for free online, so why not listen from the kitchen, glass of wine in hand? Bon appetit!

Love Scotland

The latest episode of the National Trust For Scotland’s podcast series, hosted by Jackie Bird, sees historian Professor Murray Pittock explore six landmarks that helped Scotland develop a “powerful global footprint”, including The Pineapple folly in Dunmore Park, Stirlingshire, Kirkcudbright’s Broughton House & Garden, and Culloden battlefield, where the 1745 Jacobite Rising came to an end. One for history buffs.

The Lazarus Heist

Following on from the first series of his acclaimed true crime podcast, journalist Geoff White delves even further into the murky world of cyber crime, uncovering how the hackers of the “Lazarus Group” – alleged to be working for North Korea – have stolen billions of dollars around the globe. Over the course of nine episodes, learn how an “extraordinary global flash-mob of crime” loot more than $2billion from ATMs around the world.
