TV presenter Nick Knowles has revealed he is still single two years after splitting with wife Jessica.

The DIY SOS star said: “I am not a lothario. What you see in public is not my private life. I am not dating. I am out with people in public but it is not romantic.”

Nick, 55, has played and dedicated his new album which launches on Friday to his musician brother John.

But he revealed that Jessica – mum to his three-year-old son Eddie – was also the first to hear it.

He said: “It was important because a lot of the influences for it came from her.

“Music was always important to us; at the start of our relationship and during it and now in this transition. I will not say the end because we still have a relationship as parents to Eddie.

“We were together for nine years and it is important that we go forward with a relationship Eddie can be proud of.”

There is a song on the album which is dedicated to Jessica but Nick will not reveal which. Another – the album’s title song by Robert Palmer – is for Eddie, who following in his guitar-playing dad’s footsteps, already has his own ukulele.

Nick will perform songs from the album for STV and Heart Radio on Thursday.

He said: “I’m looking forward to getting back to Scotland. I would like to find a couple of hideaways there. It’s a favourite place.”
