Giulia Lunardi was born in Italy and moved to Glasgow eight years ago for a Master’s degree.
Food has always played a big part in her life, having grown up watching her mum cook. Family occasions and festivities always revolved around food.
After living in Glasgow for a few years, she was keen to try more and more restaurants, including reviewing newly opened spots. We asked Giulia to share her favourite finds so far.
Locanda de Gusti, Edinburgh
If you are looking for authentic Italian flavours and hospitality you can’t miss this restaurant. Their menu changes daily and focuses on fresh, local seafood and traditional southern and central Italian recipes. Not only the food is delicious, the service is outstanding and makes you feel right at home. Perfect to celebrate a special occasion.
HoLeeFook, Glasgow
Located near the Barrowlands in a former newsagent hatch, HoLeeFook – which means good, wealth, and luck – offers a variety of incredible Asian street food. It is often queued out the door because their food is simply delicious. Their tonkatsu sando is one of the most delicious things I’ve ever eaten. You don’t want to miss this not so hidden gem.
Café Circa, Glasgow
Café Circa is a true Glasgow gem: family-run, homey and full of charm. Why do I like it so much? The food is simply delicious, the menu features staple breakfast dishes and more. As you step in you are surrounded by family history, captured in the pictures on the walls and that’s part of its charm.
