After being cooped up inside after the recent stormy weather, you might be hoping to plan some outdoor adventures.
Rebecca Monteith is a content creator based in Aberdeen who loves all things outdoorsy, from hikes to Sunday stroll spots.
We asked for her top three places to visit so you can try them out too.
Glencoe
Glencoe has been my favourite place in Scotland for years and nowhere makes me feel more at peace. It’s pure Scottish magic – rugged mountains, fresh air and moody skies. You’ll spot a stag or two if you’re lucky! Whether you’re there to hike, wild dip in one of the many hidden pools or to take in the views, Glencoe never disappoints.
Lannan Bakery, Edinburgh
I can’t resist a bakery and Lannan Bakery certainly lives up to the hype. After opening in Stockbridge in 2023, it has quickly become Edinburgh’s go-to places for unreal pastries. Their cardamom buns are to die for, and I’d happily eat their pastries every day for the rest of my life. If you want the best selection, be there when they open!
Old Man of Hoy, Orkney
Orkney is an incredible place, and the hike to the Old Man of Hoy is next-level. This giant 450ft sea stack is one of the UK’s tallest, towering over the rocks below. The trail from Rackwick Beach takes around three hours and words can’t describe the feeling of seeing it for the first time. Watching the sunset here was unforgettable.
