If you are looking for recommendations for your next coastal adventure, Rebecca Prentice is the perfect person to ask.

Based in St Andrews, we asked for her top three favourite seaside spots. She took us on a journey around the mainland and even ventured north to the islands.

Delilah’s Restaurant

Seared scallops in the Scottish sunshine and a wee mocktail before a sea swim. I often dine at Delilah’s in Lochinver before visiting Assynt’s beautiful beaches. Achmelvich, Clachtoll, Clashnessie and Culkein are all a short drive away. Delilah’s fresh produce and stylish interior are the perfect treat to send you on your way.

Cellardyke Seaside Sauna

The perfect spot to relax. Image: Rebecca Prentice

I’ve loved watching Cellardyke Tidal Pool’s regeneration. Affectionately called ‘the Bathie’, it’s well-used by the community: East Neuk Outdoors, a model boating club, the ‘Nae Richters’, and Scottish Seaside Sauna. Heat contrast therapy is gathering momentum in Scotland, and I’m here for it! Relax, release, and enjoy the stunning views of the Isle of May over the Firth of Forth.

Rackwick Bay

Experience Hoy’s heathery hills, huge sea cliffs and coorie in the enchanting bothy at Rackwick Bay. Better known as the starting point for the walk to the Old Man of Hoy, don’t forget to immerse yourself in the drama of Rackwick. Orkney’s poet, George Mackay Brown described it as a ‘hidden valley of light’. To me, it’s a place of wonder.
