The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for thunderstorms across the east of Scotland later today.
The warning, in place from 12pm until midnight, covers the north-eastern coast, most of Fife, Edinburgh, Lothian and the Borders.
It states that “most places will stay dry, but heavy showers and thunderstorms may cause some flooding and disruption to travel.”
Some spots could see as much as 30mm rain in an hour and 40 to 60mm rain in two or three hours in torrential downpours.
The rest of the country should see some sunny spells today mixed with cloud.
