It’s back to the Great British Bake Off for cool dad Paul

GREAT BRITISH BAKE OFF star Paul Jagger says being back on the telly has made him cool with the kids.

The show, which defied the critics by proving to be a big hit when it moved to Channel 4, has two festive specials.

Each sees four former favourites step into the famous tent once again to conjure up some creations.

Paul will be joined in the first episode by Beca Lyne-Pirkis, Selasi Gbormittah and Val Stones.

Paul was a quarter-finalist during the 2015 series so he hadn’t yet met the new presenting line-up of Prue Leith, Sandi Toksvig and Noel Fielding.

“When I told my sons that I was going back to the Christmas Bake Off and that Noel Fielding was in it, I had instant dad kudos from this,” said Paul.

“They were more excited to meet him, and totally forgot I was going on TV again.

“They cannot wait for the programme to air as they have photographs with him that they want to show their friends.

“Sandi was big in personality and lovely. And I must admit I have fallen in love with Prue as she is such a knowledgeable, warm woman to talk to and I did get a dance with her too at the after-party.”

Paul’s biggest standout moment from his original GBBO experience was his legendary loaf made in the shape of a lion.

“I don’t think I will ever get away from my Lion Bread as it really was loved by everyone,” admits Paul.

“I am proud that I did this on GBBO as it became so iconic.”
