A DIY music platform born out of a tenement flat in Glasgow has launched a crowdfunding campaign ahead of their tenth anniversary.

Tenement TV (TTV), which featured the likes of Lewis Capaldi and Sam Fender before their rise to fame, is offering supporters a number of rewards for pledges – including the chance to host a gig in their flat.

With music being hugely impacted by the coronavirus pandemic, it’s hoped that the money raised will help TTV to champion up and coming Scottish talent when live performances are back on the agenda.

Created in a flat in Glasgow’s Highburgh Road, TTV was the brainchild of Chae Houston, Jamie Logie and Nadine Walker.

All living in the city, their relentless support of music in Scotland has come with no funding, fuelled by a pure and simple love of music.

Speaking about the Crowdfunder launch, Chae said: “The music industry is in crisis.

“Our key aim for this Crowfunder is to generate support from an industry we have worked to support for the last 9 years to help us create a celebration of music for our landmark 10th year.

“Funding is being cut, sponsorship deals are scarce and so we wanted to create this opportunity for people to not only enjoy our ten year parties with us, but also get access to money-can’t-buy experiences that we’re really proud to offer to the music community today.”

Since the first days in the tenement flat, TTV have shot 328 live sessions with artists including the likes of Bastille, Catfish and the Bottlemen, Nina Nesbitt, Tom Walker, Jake Bugg and Gabrielle Aplin.

They’ve covered 1829 gigs and brought music fans the best new music from 112 festivals, as well as holding their own Tenement Trail events in venues across Glasgow.
