GERI HORNER has paid a visit to one of the favourite charities of her late friend, George Michael.

The former Spice Girl has recently become an ambassador for Childline and met up with its founder Dame Esther Rantzen to take a tour of the counselling room.

After Michael’s death on Christmas Day 2016 it came to light that he had been a generous donor to Childline and Horner has now released a single in his memory, Angels In Chains, with all proceeds going to the charity.

Horner said: “I am very proud to be a Childline ambassador and to have the opportunity to work with people who help hundreds of thousands of children in need each year.

“Coming to the NSPCC and meeting with Dame Esther Rantzen and the Childline counsellors has really brought home to me what a truly life-changing service it is for young people living across the UK.”

Dame Esther said: “We are delighted to welcome Geri to Childline today as an ambassador, and are grateful to her for taking the time to come and see the important work we do.

“Not only is she an iconic figure herself, and will help us spread awareness of Childline’s work, Geri already has a deep understanding of our role as a life-line for young people who have nowhere else to turn.

“Hearing first-hand how Childline counsellors help children and young people pour out their hearts to us about their suffering, talking about concerns such as abuse, bullying and mental health issues will have given Geri an even deeper understanding of how vital the service is to young people and how committed our staff and volunteers are to their work, saving lives and protecting children from pain.”
