CELTIC have been linked with a move for Swansea City star Alfie Mawson.

According to WalesOnline, the Hoops have shown an interest in the defender, with Everton, West Ham and Watford also in the running to sign him.

The 23-year-old has made 25 appearances for the Swans this season, scoring two goals.

Nadir Ciftci could be making a return to the Scottish Premiership – but not with Celtic.

The 25-year-old’s loan deal with Plymouth Argyle has been cancelled, with Motherwell set to bring the former Dundee United striker to Fir Park until the end of the season. (The Herald)

Rangers remain interested in bringing Kevin McDonald to Ibrox, according to The Sun, but would face competition from Middlesbrough and Sheffield Wednesday.

The 29-year-old midfielder was also a target for the Light Blues during the summer window and is thought to be rated at around £1.5m.

Carlos Pena has completed his loan move to Cruz Azul, with Pedro Caixinha’s new club having an option to buy the midfielder at the end of the season.

The Mexican had a mixed time at Rangers, scoring five times and impressing in glimpses but struggling to find consistency.

If Bruno Alves joins Pena in heading to the Ibrox exit door, he could be replaced by Russell Martin.

Portugal defender Alves is attracting interest from Qatari clubs, and Scotland defender Martin is keen on the move north. (Daily Record)

Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes hopes to use a warm weather training camp trip to Dubai to thrash out a new contract with Anthony O’Connor.

Chelsea’s attempts to sign Juventus left-back Alex Sandro have stalled due to the Italian club’s asking price, the Telegraph reports. The paper says Juventus are demanding about £60million for the 26-year-old, which is more than Chelsea are prepared to spend – a similar scenario to last summer when the Italian club wanted almost £80million.

Liverpool and Arsenal are reportedly keen to sign Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic, who could find himself sidelined after the arrival of Philippe Coutinho. The Daily Express says reports in Spain suggest the two Premier League sides are looking to make a bid for him at the end of the season.

Manchester City are set to make a fresh bid for Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez in this month’s transfer window, according to the Guardian.

The paper says the club believe the Chilean forward can be prised from Arsenal, with Gabriel Jesus’s knee injury increasing Pep Guardiola’s desire to sign him.

The Mirror reports that Arsenal will be willing to sell at the right price, and are likely to want close to £30million, but also want a deal done early enough so they can sign a replacement for Sanchez before the window closes.

Arsenal midfielder Francis Coquelin is said to be in talks over a move to Valencia after finding himself out of favour at the Emirates. The Daily Mail says West Ham are also interested in the 26-year-old, but that Hammers manager David Moyes fears Coquelin would prefer a move to the Spanish LaLiga side.

West Ham are reportedly moving closer to securing a £12million deal for Newcastle midfielder Jonjo Shelvey. The Daily Express says talks between the two clubs have progressed, but that the Magpies are keen to line up a replacement before the deal is finalised.
