CELTIC have been told to offer more cash if they want to land Aberdeen winger Jonny Hayes.

According to the Press & Journal, Cardiff City’s £1.2 million bid for the Republic of Ireland international is considered to be better than the Hoops’ offer of cash plus Ryan Christie on loan.

Hayes, meanwhile, says he won’t let speculation over his future distract him from Ireland’s World Cup qualifier against Austria on Sunday. (Evening Express)

Javier Abella may be the latest Mexican star on his way to Rangers.

ESPN reports that negotiations are underway over a deal for the Santos Laguna full-back, who Pedro Caixinha managed during his time at the club.

Fabio Cardoso, meanwhile, has signed a three year deal with the club.

Aberdeen defender Mark Reynolds says in the Evening Express that sacrificing his holiday plans will be worth it to secure his first Scotland cap.

St Johnstone and Scotland coach Callum Davidson tells The Courier about the shortest summer he’s ever had.

One season ends for him with Scotland’s clash with England on Saturday, and the next starts on Sunday, when Saints begin training ahead of the Europa League qualifiers.

Former St Johnstone and Dundee United defender Graham Gartland is a candidate for the assistant manager role at Dundee, reports The Courier.

England have turned to a SCOTSMAN to train their strikers.

A great story in the Edinburgh Evening News reveals the daughter of retired whistler Crawford Allan is following in his footsteps.

The 24-year-old is already a FIFA assistant referee and helped officiate in women’s World Cup qualifying.

Manchester United have made their first move in the summer transfer window by trying to sign Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata.

The Sun are reporting that United have offered £52 million for the 24-year-old Spain international but have been been thwarted, with the Champions League winners telling Jose Mourinho to stump up over £78 million.

If Real Madrid can recoup that fee for Morata, it will go straight towards a world-record deal for Monaco’s Kylian Mbappe, with Spanish newspaper AS claiming they have already bid £118million for the highly-rated striker.

They will be spending big this summer, with the Daily Star saying they will make a move for Chelsea’s Eden Hazard this summer and hope to get a cut-price deal due to his injury.

The Mirror are reporting that Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea are all fighting it out for Southampton left-back Ryan Bertrand.

The Saints could have bigger things to worry about, though, as boss Claude Puel has been told he will lose his job, according to the Daily Express.
