A DIGITAL company which works on the hit Outlander TV series is set to expand its workforce thanks to a £200,000 grant.
Blazing Griffin have used the Regional Selective Assistance (RSA) funds, awarded by Scottish Enterprise, to establish a post-production facility at their new Glasgow premises.
The facility will help to create 14 new permanent jobs.
The company’s recent credits include Outlander, Shetland, Still Game, Our Girl and forthcoming feature film, Anna and the Apocalypse.
The organisation provides high-quality, end-to-end post production which includes editing suites, 4K HDR colour grading, online and finishing services.
Production spend on film and TV in Scotland increased by more than 30 per cent last year, to a record high.
Culture Secretary Fiona Hyslop visited Blazing Griffin to announce the funding and said the company was a ‘prime example of the health of Scotland’s thriving screen sector.’
She said: “Productions are being attracted to Scotland because of our stunning locations, but also the wealth of talent that is needed to create world-class productions.
“The Scottish Government is helping to build on this success story by doubling public sector investment in the film and screen sector. This will bring total public funding for screen development, production and growth to £20 million in next year’s budget.”
David Frew, Blazing Griffin’s head of post-production, said: “Our aim is to establish Blazing Griffin Productions as Scotland’s premier TV and Film post production facility – one which is competitive with the UK’s most highly-regarded facilities in London.
“Our state-of-the-art facility is home to Scotland’s first 4K HDR grading theatre, and is already servicing some of the largest productions in Scotland. We hope to extend to projects and clients shooting in other parts of the UK and Europe.
“The RSA grant will not only allow us to attract the best local Scottish talent, and talent which previously went elsewhere, but also to attract highly regarded talent from other parts of the UK and the rest of the world.”
