Planning your winter getaway? Consider a short stay in Portpatrick and take advantage of a fantastic £40-a-night deal.

Where can you enjoy a break for this special discounted rate? At The Harbour House Hotel and Anglesea Self-Catering Apartments, where manager Jude Turnbull invites you to bring your loved ones to stay and enjoy “drinks by the fire, dinner with a view”.

Adorning the Harbour House’s festive menu, which runs from December 1-23, is a range of mouth-watering dishes including camembert with cranberry sauce to start, followed by honey and balsamic glazed pork chops. Or, of course, the traditional roast turkey with stuffing, pigs in blankets and all the trimmings? And end with an indulgent dessert like profiteroles or white chocolate tart with ginger biscuit base. You will dine in the hotel’s conservatory area. It’s a wonderful space to enjoy a meal whatever the time of year, as you watch the comings and goings of the harbour outside.

Then after enjoying your two (£16.99) or three (£19.99) course evening meal, head back your cosy room or sit by the fire at Harbour House, a contemporary, independently-run, coastal hotel boasting views of Portpatrick harbour. Or perhaps you will stay at the Anglesea Self-Catering Apartments on-site?

The self-contained apartments are also available to book during December* for the special price of £40 per person, per night and offer flexibility for families and couples wishing to come and go as they please.

Book a perfectly placed apartment in the picturesque coastal town of Portpatrick in Dumfries & Galloway, and you also have the option to enjoy breakfast in the hotel (usually £8 per person). It is around £600 for a fully-equipped apartment that sleeps four people for a week-long stay. While prices are quoted on a weekly basis, Jude is happy to tailor shorter stays at the apartments for guests wishing to spend a long weekend in Portpatrick (minimum two-night stay).

She said: “There is plenty to keep you entertained during your stay, from sporting activities, coastal walks, sub-tropic botanical gardens, or perhaps back to basics to relax with the quintessential seaside getaway this winter.

“Whatever you get up to during your stay, the Harbour House is the perfect retreat and we look forward to welcoming you here during December or into the New Year.”

WINTER BREAKS: £40 per person, per night on a bed and breakfast basis
