Beloved Pet Funeral Care

Beloved Pet Funeral Care was started by Stephanie, an experienced funeral arranger, and her husband Graham following the sad passing of their family dog Florrie.

Beloved Pet Funeral Care was started by Stephanie and Graham following the sad passing of their family dog Florrie. Stephanie was an experienced funeral arranger, having worked for 2 leading funeral companies but couldn’t find the same level of funeral care for beloved Florrie.

So, they decided to open the first pet funeral home and crematorium in Renfrewshire, ensuring a very different service to that previously available.

Stephanie says “We are extremely proud to be able to offer the utmost dignity and compassion for furry family members. When Florrie passed away, we were told she would be stored in the veterinary practice for up to a week and be collected with many other pets on a weekly van run. It would then be up to 2 weeks to receive her ashes back.

We, as a family, were determined to ensure all pets had the same respect as any other family members so we opened our independent funeral home and crematorium, specialising in private individual collections and compassionate, individual cremations for beloved pets and aim to have pets’ ashes returned within 3 days. It’s crucial that pet parents know there are choices when it comes to giving your pet the utmost care and dignity for their farewell journey”.

PADS (Perthshire Abandoned Dogs Society)

Perthshire Abandoned Dogs Society offers shelter for dogs who have been abandoned due to ‘lockdown puppy’ syndrome and the cost of living crisis. Support this charity today.

A small local Perthshire charity which cares for and rehomes unwanted dogs must be second to none in the animal welfare charts.  In the 33 years since PADS (Perthshire Abandoned Dogs Society) opened its kennels at Forteviot the charity has rehomed an estimated 8,300 dogs.

The work goes on. Now however, like other animal shelters big and small, it is facing a ‘double whammy’ of homeless dogs. Arriving at the kennels are the ‘lockdown puppies’, now fully grown, whose working owners cannot cope AND also the canine victims of the cost of living crisis whose owners cannot afford to keep them. Two tragedies rolled into one mean busy times at PADS!

PADS Chair, Alison Kennedy, says: “We are coping. Our staff are working hard to make sure every dog that comes here gets all the love, care and attention it deserves. Sadly, some animals have been abused and neglected and need rehabilitation before looking for a new home.”

This spring, PADS is opening a new, specially designed ‘therapy garden’ where nervous dogs will find a peaceful environment to relax and recover from trauma.
Find out all about PADS   and remember PADS ‘SCRUFTS’ Dog Show at Rollo Park, Dunning later this year on 12 August.

Woofy Weddings

Let Woofy Weddings sort out the hairy details during your wedding day.

Woofy Weddings is a service for couples who would like to include their dogs in some way on their wedding day. It may be that they would like them to be ring bearers, or Best Dog, Dog of Honour or some other role or perhaps just for photographs after the wedding. Owner Trish Hollinger usually collects the dog the morning of the wedding, delivers them to the venue as required, and then back home with Trish overnight where they have all walks, feeds, cuddles and play with home comforts.

When Trish first started Woofy Weddings in 2016, she couldn’t find anyone else in the country online that was offering this service but now there are many others. In fact, there is plenty of work to go around. As everyone you may know and love is at the wedding, this service offers you chance to have your beloved pet at the wedding for a while without the worry of looking after them yourselves!
