Virgin Trains yesterday warned customers not to travel to or from Scotland until Friday on the East Coast main line, with tickets now valid on Friday services for those who had intended to make the journey today.

On the West Coast main line, no trains or replacement buses are running between Carlisle and Scottish destinations until at least lunchtime.

Virgin Trains tickets dated yesterday and today will now be valid for travel up to and including Sunday March 4.
