Celtic winger Scott Sinclair is ready to make up for his PSG snub

PASSED over in Paris, Scott Sinclair will be a player with a point to prove in today’s Betfred League Cup Final.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers previously worked with the 28-year-old at Chelsea and Swansea, and made him one of his first signings for Celtic last summer.

However, despite having made him very much a first team regular ever since, he deemed him surplus to requirements against Paris Saint-Germain last Wednesday night.

“Obviously you want to play in the Champions League, in any game for that matter,” said Sinclair, who missed last year’s League Cup set-piece through injury.

“But the manager pulled me aside the day before the game in midweek and said; ‘Look, I’m going to keep you out of this one’.

“When he makes a decision, you just have to accept it.

“Throughout my career, there have been things I’ve had to deal with.

“When the manager pulled me aside and said he was going to put me on the bench, it was one of them.

“I had to deal with it and make sure I was back, ready to go again.”

The winger did not, he said, take it as a comment on how he has been performing.

“People can talk to me about having lost my form, but it’s not the case,” he said.

“I still feel my form is there. I just feel like I have two players on me in every game.

”If I have two on me, then there is always going to be one spare man, which is great for us.

“The problem is it does make games more frustrating because it is something I am not used to.

“It comes to the stage where the guy is literally with you the whole game.

“You come deep, you go long, you could come all the way back to in goal.

“The key is to stay patient because a chance will come. It might be in the 60th, 70th or 80th minute. But it will come.

“It was devastating to miss last year’s Final against Aberdeen, but that is behind me now and I can’t wait for this one.”
