Restaurant review: The Boat House, Loch Lomond

The Boat House
The Boat House

The grounds around The Boat House and neighbouring Cameron House are lovely for a little wander to walk off your meal.

Location

Poised at the marina on the banks of Loch Lomond, The Boat House at Cameron House is perfectly placed for dining with a view. The stunning scenery is second to none.

First impressions

Airy and light and with a maritime theme, the restaurant is simply stunning. From the little sail boats dotted around to the rope chandeliers, it’s the small touches that finish off this lovely big space.

Service

We’re greeted by a lovely, smiling waitress who shows us to a table by the window, overlooking the boats on the marina strip. She helpfully talked us through the menu and was attentive and polite, making sure she catered for our every need.

Menu

The menu is varied, which is great. Choose from a range of dishes from simple soup, Scottish oysters and steak to pizza with a range of toppings or pasta. Whether you fancy a light bite or a big plate, there’s something for everyone. The dessert list is full of sweet treats (if you have any room left!).

Taste

Absolutely delicious. We plumped for the battered codling with fries and the Boat House Beef Burger, which were both fabulous and the portion sizes were big. We just about managed a Knickerbocker Glory to share, which was the perfect end to a perfect lunch.

Ambience

Even though it was busy, the restaurant vibe was very calm, comfortable and relaxed. And the bar area, especially with the fire on a cold day, was great for a chill-out after a hearty meal.

Price

Coming in at around £50 for two, it was reasonable – and definitely worth the money for the view!
