Glam up with gorgeous lashes

Christmas is one of the busiest times of the year for party beauty. And what better way to jazz up your look than with a set of lashes?

Danielle Gregory, chief executive of make-up and false eyelash brand Doll Beauty, says applying lashes is the perfect way to open up your eyes and completely transform the face.

“They are a beauty bag essential, particularly during party season,” says Danielle.

“And, even though we are mostly partying at home this year, it feels good to glam ourselves up – if only for the photos that will create lasting memories of 2020.

“However, applying lashes correctly is vitally important in making sure everything comes together perfectly!”

To begin

So, how do we apply false lashes?

“First off, we always recommend to cut the lash to the shape and length of your eye,” Danielle explains. “This avoids overhang at either corner and gives the lash a more of a natural look. “Carefully hold the lash against your own, memorising where your lash ends.

“Next, cut the false lash accordingly to make sure they’re the same length. We would always recommend cutting from the inside rather than outside.”

Next, apply a layer of lash glue, but leave it to go tacky before applying.

“This will make your lashes stay on 100% better than applying them straight away,” says Danielle.

“When the glue is too wet and the lash isn’t secure this increases the risk of it peeling off.”

Top tip

Danielle’s top tip is to apply a layer of mascara before applying the lash.

“Applying mascara to the natural lash as well as the false lash helps blend the two together,” she says.

“Finally, place the lash gently above the lash line marrying both the natural and false lash. Allow to settle for a few seconds before securing together.

“We recommend using a set of tweezers. This is also great for getting into the corners of the inner eye that your fingers might be too big for!

“Often, we forget to lock in the corners which is so important to get those lashes to stick. “

In the bag

After that, you should be safe to party the day and night away, but Danielle says you can never be over-prepared.

“I always pop my lash glue and tweezers into my bag – just in case.

“They’re small enough to hide in your clutch – and at least if the wind blows you can fix them when you get where you need to be.”
