WATCH: Anger at Glasgow Pride as estimated 1000 people unable to enter site

IT’S estimated approximately 1000 people have been unable to get in to Pride Glasgow celebrations at Kelvingrove Park.

Pride Glasgow have now issued a statement saying they are unable to let anyone else in, as capacity of 7000 has now been met.

The majority of those in the queues have purchased tickets weeks in advance already, with VIP tickets reaching £45.

Pride Glasgow has issued a statement online letting people know they have reached capacity.

Huge crowds of people are still waiting to get in, and tensions are growing, with many waiting hours to enter the site.

Tickets were still able to be purchased at the box office at Kelvingrove Park right up until capacity was met, with advance ticket holders queuing at the gates.

An unnofficial source from Police Scotland on the site said: “We need to be thinking of people’s safety here first and foremost.

“It’s clear many people are extremely angry at what’s happening, especially in this heat.

“I’d estimate there’s still over 1000 people waiting to get in.”

No one from Pride Glasgow was present for comment.

The Pride Glasgow Parade began earlier today at 12pm, led by First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon.

Ms Sturgeon was chosen to lead the parade based on her previous support of LGBTI rights.
