ABERDEEN midfielder Ryan Christie has promised his team will be more fired up for their second trip to Fir Park in four days.

The Dons suffered a 3-0 Betfred Cup quarter-final defeat against Motherwell on Thursday after being subjected to a relentless display of pressing and pressure from the hosts.

Christie had Aberdeen’s best chances and was denied in each half by Trevor Carson but the Dons otherwise struggled to create opportunities against a hard-working Motherwell side.

But Christie vowed to learn from their cup loss and make amends in Sunday’s Ladbrokes Premiership encounter.

The on-loan Celtic player told Red TV: “Across the board we just weren’t good enough over the 90 minutes.

“To be fair to Motherwell, they did well to shut the space in front of their defence and they play in the right areas. It’s hard to nick the ball and get a chance.

“I’m frustrated with myself that I didn’t manage to take my chance in the second half, maybe that would have changed the game, but the good thing is now we have the chance to bounce back on Sunday.

“I’m sure we will have a bigger fire in our bellies going into Sunday, that’s for sure. All the players were hurting in the changing room and all you can do is take that into the game on Sunday.

“We will calm down a bit and review the game and see where we can do better and we will definitely be back down hoping to right our wrongs.”
