North Berwick offers luxurious breaks on a Scottish farm

That’s sandy luxurious breaks on a Scottish farm.

If golden sands and cool blue waters are your idea of the perfect holiday, then look no further than North Berwick.

Yes, the east coast boasts some of the most stunning beaches in Scotland. And Harvest Moon Holidays is perched right on one of the most gorgeous secluded spots.

The family-run firm offers tree house or safari tent accommodation on Lochhouses, a working farm that’s the ideal choice whether you’re looking for a quiet country break or a hands-on holiday.

Farmer Robert Dale and his lawyer wife Michele launched the business six years ago, after their three children left home for university.

Initially, they offered luxury safari tent-style accommodation. But in just the first year, the company doubled in size, expanding to include fabulous tree houses too.

Son Alex Mitchell, 29, quit his job as a London banker 18 months ago to come home to East Lothian and use his qualifications in accounting and business to benefit Harvest Moon.

Lochhouses is mainly an arable farm with fields of barley, wheat and market garden veg.

If you’re interested in helping out, you can join Robert and Michele to tend to the hens in the hen house, as well as the ducks and lop-eared bunnies. In spring, there’s an opportunity to bottle feed the lambs.

But if it’s complete relaxation you’re after, take a stroll along the beautiful neighbouring beach, through the surrounding woodland or round one of the nearby lochs.

One thing is for certain, you’ll never be stumped for something to do with biking, pony trekking, birdwatching and wakeboarding on offer in the area.

Alex said: “Harvest Moon is a fantastic fun place to spend your short break, holiday, birthday celebration, or even your wedding.

“It’s one of the most beautiful and peaceful parts of the country and it’s always a pleasure spending time here. In fact, it speaks for itself, with our guests coming back year on year.”

The season at Harvest Moon runs from April to November.
