Following the trend of ‘teasing’ a new model before unveiling it in full, Vauxhall has offered us a first glimpse at its all-new Corsa.

Just one image has been shown of the hatchback, with a focus on its headlight technology. The adaptive ‘IntelliLux LED Matrix’ units have previously featured on Astra and Insignia models and will make a Corsa debut on the new model. Vauxhall claims it’s the first to introduce Matrix LED technology to the supermini segment.

Little else has been revealed for the upcoming Vauxhall Corsa, although the firm has said orders will be taken for a battery-electric variant of the hatchback later in 2019. Internal combustion engines will still be offered at launch, although no word on if diesel units will feature or if the line-up will be exclusively petrol. The latter is most likely, with the black-pump version of the current Corsa taken off sale in April 2018 as a result of low demand.

While the Corsa EV will be the first all-electric model from the firm, it’s not the sole electrified model set to be offered by the firm — with a plug-in hybrid Grandland X SUV also going on sale around the same time. Vauxhall has previously offered a hybrid in the form of the Ampera, produced from 2012 to 2015.

Vauxhall has not offered a date on when the all-new Corsa will be revealed, but it could make an appearance at the Geneva Motor Show, taking place from March 5 to 17.
