Kevin Costner isn’t just killing time in French capital

Kevin Costner’s new movie may see him playing a secret agent on a mission in France but he says it didn’t feel too far from home.

The Californian-born actor plays Ethan Renner in 3 Days To Kill, a CIA operative who receives a medical diagnosis that makes him want to rebuild his relationship with his estranged daughter (Hailee Steinfeld).

The pair take a trip to Paris but Ethan can never quite give up the day job and ends up hunting down the world’s most ruthless terrorist.

“When dealing with women, Ethan gets frustrated, and my house is the same,” says 59-year-old Kevin, who has seven children from three different relationships.

“You have to deal with life when you’re making a movie boyfriends, girlfriends and things and some days you’re just not as good. There’s a level of humour that we tried to bring into the movie without winking at the camera.

“Every time his phone rings it’s his daughter on the line but he’s in the middle of a situation that normally speaking, you would want to say, ‘Honey can I call you right back?’ but she’s got him on a very short leash.”

3 Days To Kill is at cinemas now.
