Hit BBC Scotland football show A View From The Terrace to return next season

Hit football show A View From The Terrace (AVFTT) will return in the new football season, the BBC has announced.

A highlight of the new BBC Scotland channel, the show was a hit with viewers and critics and will be back for 20 new episodes when the action kicks off again after the summer.

Praised for putting the spotlight on clubs all across the country, not just Rangers, Celtic and the top flight, AVFTT was adapted from the cult podcast The Terrace and hosted by the team of Craig Telfer, Craig Fowler, Shaughan McGuigan, Joel Sked and Robert Borthwick.

As well as discussion segments with humour and insight in equal doses, a series of short films made for the show became viral hits on social media, including a package of Arbroath v Airdrieonians highlights in the style of director Wes Anderson and the story of Eriskay’s sloping pitch.

The videos racked up thousands of shares online, including from FIFA and BBC’s Match of the Day.

The series received press plaudits with one observer on a national newspaper describing it as the best football show in the UK.

David Harron, Commissioning Executive, BBC Scotland, said: “It has been great to see the positive reception the series has had – it seems to have struck a real chord with Scottish football fans.

“Each week the team has delivered terrific programmes which have become a mainstay of our Friday night sports offering and we’re delighted it will return for the new season.”
