Voiceover artist Lewis Macleod answers our quick questions about Postman Pat and his silliest ever script line

Quick questions for Lewis Macleod.

Did becoming the voice of Postman Pat get you big Dad points?

For about two weeks. Then they were on to Special Agent Oso on Disney.

Doing voices for Mr Men, Harry Potter and Postman Pat among many others, what’s your favourite?

It’s been great seeing the hype build for the new Star Wars movie. My character made it into the trailer which went down well with my pals.

You can’t “do” David Cameron?

There’s something tricky about the tune of his voice. I’ve got a good Alex Salmond, if that’s any use.

What would you have been good at as a “proper” job?

At 17, I wanted to join the police. When I started doing stand-up I abandoned that in favour of laughs!

Doing radio’s Dead Ringers or TV’s Newzoids, is that competitive?

Not at all. Most of the cast of Ringers are involved with Newzoids!

Is it true you were going to be the voice of X Factor?

I was on honeymoon, and they needed a voice quickly. There was no studio where I was so they hired Peter Dickson. We had a hurricane and my wife got robbed. It was a terrible honeymoon.

Silliest line you’ve had to voice from a script?

Not the silliest but the funniest I had to announce between TV shows was: “Big Brother. Coming up after Snorting Coke With The BBC”.

Which DVD would you save in a fire Tom and Jerry or The Pink Panther?

Belting question! If it was Tom and Jerry cartoons from the ’40s, I’d be happy to see The Pink Panther melt.

Your next project?

Dead Ringers returns next month and there’s talk of a comedy movie, too, which is exciting.

You’ve 24 hours left to live. How do you spend them?

Like Al Pacino in Scent Of A Woman, I’d take an expensive car for an insane drive around Glasgow. Those hills in Partick would be brilliant for jumps!
