Wimbledon and ‘Chrissy’ Chris Evert served up a birthday treat for my sister Elaine

I’ve told you all before how I’ve had to pinch myself at some of the great experiences I’ve had here in La-la Land.

Whether it’s standing on the red carpet interviewing a Hollywood A-lister or visiting the set of a music star’s latest video, it almost seems too good to be true.

I had another moment like that last week but this time I wasn’t anywhere near Hollywood.

As you read this I’m on the plane heading back stateside following a brilliant trip back to the UK, and an experience at Wimbledon I’ll never forget.

Brianna and I took my wee sis Elaine and family to Wimbers for a special party for her birthday.

First it was a couple of tennis matches including Dunblane’s finest, Andy Murray.

As is typical for a Scotsman at a sporting event involving a countryman, I got quite vocal.

Brianna had to ask after one bout of encouragement directed at Andy if the phrase “gerrintaeum bigyin” was Gaelic or Latin.

My old pal Sue Barker pulled a few strings and got us all behind the scenes into the exclusive bar at the All England Lawn Tennis Club.

Then it was on to the brilliant Thai Tho restaurant which, as you might guess from the name, doesn’t do mince and tatties.

The lovely Sue was with us with her husband Lance, as was Paul Coia and his missus, Debbie Greenwood.

Sue was on great form, she came to meet us right after she’d finished presenting and absolutely loves this time of year.

The whole thing was a special trip for Elaine, as the Kings were always family of tennis fans.

I clearly remember being 12 and heading down to London with Elaine and my mum and dad to go to the famous court.

Back then my favourite player was Chris Evert.

My crush on her is even bigger than Ivo Karlovic’s size 16 feet.

So when American tennis legend Pam Shriver appeared with the lovely Chris it felt like my heart had just been given a forehand smash by Rodger Federer himself.

Brianna said I just went a bit quiet which given I never shut up was a bit of a giveaway!

When introduced I immediately called her “Chrissy” as if I was a lifelong pal.

Nice one, Ross.

I introduced my fiance Brianna who immediately told Chris I really fancied her.

“That’s a shame Ross,” she said. “Don’t worry, we’ll just have to have a little thing on the side.”

Readers, I’m in love. Brianna, if you’re reading this bit, I’m only joking.

But if you’re not then call me, Chrissy.
