Title for Celtic proves Ronny was in the right all along.
John Collins last night praised Ronny Deila for his mental strength and proving the doubters including himself wrong.
Celtic clinched the Premier League title without kicking a ball yesterday after Aberdeen lost 1-0 at Tannadice.
The Hoops manager, untried outside his native Norway before this season, came under serious scrutiny earlier in the season. But Collins, who Deila brought in as his No 2, said: “Ronny deserves enormous credit for winning the title.
“We didn’t get off to a great start and that added to the pressure on him. People can write you off very quickly in football but he kept believing and stuck to his principles.
“Ronny came to a new country, learnt a second language and it’s not as easy as people think when you’re at a huge club.
“There was huge attention on him and we were involved in massive European games right from the kick-off. So all credit to him. He deserves this title.
“Ronny has proved to himself that his methods work that will be the most satisfying thing for him. He kept faith in what he was doing and the players have bought into it.”
Derek McInnes, the manager of the deflated Dons, said: “Celtic are worthy champions.
“We always felt they would win the league, and all we could do was determine when they did.”
