Vanilla scones

Ingredients

300 g (11 oz) SR flour
75 g (3 oz) margarine or butter
50 g (2 oz) caster sugar
150 ml (5 fl oz) Alpro soya Vanilla Flavoured 
  Alternative to Milk
50 g (2 oz) sultanas (optional)

Preheat the oven to 200C, 400F or gas mark 6. 

Sift flour into a mixing bowl. Add fat and rub in. Stir in sugar. Add Alpro and sultanas, if using, and mix with a round-bladed knife to form a soft dough. Place on a lightly floured surface and knead briefly. Roll until 1.5 cm (¾ in) thick and cut into 6 cm (2 ½ in) rounds. Place scones on a baking sheet and bake for 10 to 12 minutes, until risen and golden brown. Cool on a wire rack.
